Jamal Rohani, MA, RPQ

Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)
My name is Jamal and I have a Masters in Psychotherapy and Spiritual Care from Wilfrid Laurier University. I am also a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario.

Has your life changed since the pandemic? Are you struggling with work/life balance, self-compassion, or motivation? Or are you a newcomer to Canada still trying to get your feet on the ground? I specialize in working with clients with anxiety, depression, trauma, and with clients who come from multicultural communities. In addition, I have experience supporting clients with grief, stress, isolation, and issues surrounding acculturation.

My approach to therapy is person-centered, meaning I am here to facilitate your personal growth and development and help you meet goals that may allow you to live a meaningful and fulfilling life. I am empathic, trauma-informed, and will work collaboratively you. Moreover, my aim is to create a safe and confidential therapeutic environment for you to share your fears, stress, anxiety, and also your hopes.

I will help you to explore past and/or present issues to help support improved psychological health. I have experience and am trained in the following modalities:
  • Psychodynamic Psychotherapy (family of origin issues, trauma)
  • Relational Psychotherapy
  • Strengths-Based Approaches
  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)
  • Narrative Therapy

In working with you, I will follow a culturally sensitive approach. I understand the subtle
nuances of relationships and family issues in a collectivistic culture. Being an immigrant myself, I am acquainted with the struggles and challenges of acculturation.  I offer a safe space where you can be heard and understood. I understand seeking therapy may be difficult and quite intimidating at first. I believe one of the bravest things you can do is to take that step in order to begin to understand your own story and start the healing process and journey.

My session fees for individual therapy range on a sliding scale from $65-100 depending on the expertise of your therapist and your income limitations. We will never ask you about your personal finances, just let us know what you can afford within that fee range.  I do not offer couples counselling services at this time. See our Affordable Counselling Page.

I look forward to working together with you in creating a space that supports you throughout your healing journey. I offer individual counselling in English, Hindi, Urdu, Dari/Farsi/ Pashto to adult clients across Ontario (virtually).
