A sliding scale fee structure is a flexible payment system many therapists use to make mental health services more accessible. It allows clients to pay according to their financial situation, ensuring that therapy is affordable regardless of income level. Sliding scale fees increase accessibility and promote equity in mental health services by allowing individuals from diverse financial backgrounds to seek support. Here’s how it works:

How We Help
Income-Based Payments
Sliding-scale fees are adjusted based on a client’s income. Those who earn less can pay lower fees, while clients with higher incomes pay closer to the full rate. This service is available to clients who do not have access to counselling benefits and are experiencing financial hardship. We operate on an honour system and never ask for income proof. We trust clients to use their integrity in determining what they can afford and understand that we can only offer this service to a finite number of individuals.
How It's Determined
After an initial consultation, the therapist and client negotiate a fee that fits within the client’s budget. Some therapists also factor in the number of dependents, living expenses, or financial responsibilities. We use this bucket system to help you decide what fee matches your needs best.
Number Of Sessions
We have a limited number of sliding-scale sessions available with each clinician. If a clinician is unable to meet with you at the time of your initial inquiry, we would be happy to place you on our waiting list. Currently, we are excited to offer ten sessions at a sliding-scale rate.
My Therapist
Our support team will help match you with a clinician based on your counselling goals and needs and the therapist’s scope of practice, training, and skills. Clients should be open to working with interns and/or qualifying professionals.
Fees
Individual Fees range from $55 - $140 per 50-minute session and couples from $90 - $140. Unless you cancel due to sickness or a personal emergency, missed sessions and late cancellations will count toward your 10-allotted sliding-scale sessions. Missed and late cancellations will be billed at your negotiated session rate.
Continuing Care
If you'd like to continue therapy after your 10-allotted sliding-scale sessions, we will work with you to establish a new rate of service.
